Responsibilities

As a Welder, your key duties will include:

  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and structural modifications on Defence vehicles and equipment
  • Conducting technical inspections and classification of components
  • Interpreting detailed drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
  • Using various welding methods such as electric arc, MIG, TIG, and oxyacetylene welding
  • Setting up and operating hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment
  • Assembling parts and structures through welding, bolting, or riveting
  • Heat treating metal parts and components
  • Finishing products through cleaning, polishing, or applying protective coatings

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Boilermaker or Fabricator)
  • Proven experience as a Welder in a workshop environment
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Experience with work order processing and certification tasks
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility for Defence Security Clearance
