Responsibilities
As a Welder, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining and repairing our operational fleet across Christchurch Municipal, Commercial, and Canterbury Landfill & Energy divisions. Your key duties include:
- Performing MIG and TIG welding on unit frames, bodies, and various metal components.
- Repairing cracks, breaks, and wear on truck and unit parts.
- Fabricating custom parts, panels, and reinforcements as required.
- Coordinating with supervisors to schedule vehicle maintenance and repair activities.
- Supporting vehicle maintenance when required.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensuring all welding and fabrication work meets safety and quality standards.
- Managing parts requisition and maintaining tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Requirements
- NZ Certificate in Welding (Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
- Previous automotive or heavy vehicle welding experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Class 4 Driver’s Licence (advantageous) or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to work shift hours, including evenings and occasional Saturdays.
- Must currently reside in New Zealand with valid work rights (citizenship, residency, or work visa).
