Responsibilities
As a Welder III, your key responsibilities include:
- Performing daily checks on welding equipment, machines, weld heads, torches, gas piping, and work areas to meet UCT standards
- Ensuring 6S workplace standards before and after shifts
- Setting up welding equipment, selecting appropriate methods, machine settings, and consumables
- Creating daily “Weld Coupons” for quality verification
- Executing Work Orders as prioritized by the Production Planner
- Verifying all “kitted” components, including bent tubes, against production drawings before welding
- Welding joints according to print specifications, including joint type, weld bead size, overlaps, and start/end requirements
- Checking welded assemblies for quality, including weld appearance, bead uniformity, penetration, and dimensional accuracy
- Starting and stopping Work Orders in SAP systems in real-time
- Reporting any abnormalities or workplace issues to supervisors
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding, manufacturing, aerospace, or engineering industries
- Proven experience as a professional Welder
- Certificate Level 3 or Diploma in Welding Technology from an MQA-certified institute
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols
- Proficient in using metrology instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Height Gauges, Micrometers, and Rulers
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, following safety protocols and wearing protective gear
- Willingness to commit to shift patterns and overtime as required
