Responsibilities
The Welder is responsible for a wide range of fabrication, repair, and modification tasks, including:
- Performing welding repairs on piping, plant machinery, and equipment.
- Fabricating skip buckets and conducting SMAW welding for fabrication and pipework.
- Welding for the manufacturing and modification of gangways, cradles, yard equipment, and sheet metal components.
- Carrying out welding modifications on shiplift platform structures, STC platform structures, gratings, and rails.
- Ensuring safe use of company tools and equipment while minimizing material wastage.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with workers, foremen, supervisors, and management.
- Performing Foreman duties when assigned for specific projects.
- Verifying that materials meet required standards prior to use and reporting any damage.
- Completing assigned work within allocated timescales to meet departmental targets.
- Attending required training sessions as directed by the department.
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices across all work areas.
Requirements
- Proven experience in welding, fabrication, and equipment modification.
- Ability to perform SMAW welding and work on industrial and structural components.
- Capability to work within defined timelines and meet operational targets.
- Willingness to take on Foreman responsibilities when appointed.
- Commitment to safety standards, material control, and quality requirements.
