Responsibilities
The Fabricator Welder will perform a variety of technical and operational tasks related to heavy metal fabrication and welding. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing heavy fabrication of materials such as steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and copper nickel.
- Carrying out TIG, MIG, and Stick welding according to engineering specifications.
- Constructing and assembling pipe systems using fabrication and mock-up techniques.
- Operating workshop machinery including CNC profile cutters and hydraulic presses.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure precise fabrication work.
- Contributing to workshop process improvements and following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborating with different teams to support project objectives and operational needs.
- Conducting hazard assessments and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements
Candidates interested in this position should meet the following requirements:
- Trade Certificate (Level 4) in Fabrication or an equivalent qualification.
- Relevant welding certifications.
- Minimum of five years of experience in marine or industrial fabrication.
- Valid New Zealand Driver’s License (Class 1 or higher).
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand and the ability to obtain New Zealand Defence Force security clearance if required.
