Responsibilities

The Tank Cleaner will perform several operational and maintenance tasks to ensure that tank containers meet safety, environmental, and quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning the targeted number of tanks daily during normal working hours when tanks are available for cleaning.
  • Collecting chemical waste and the first rinse water from toxic or odorous chemicals in drums for proper disposal.
  • Applying appropriate cleaning methods and following safety precautions to meet company, customer, and OHSE standards.
  • Conducting periodic testing of tanks and maintaining pressure valves through regular overhaul procedures.
  • Correctly fitting seals, gaskets, and other tank accessories while ensuring all safety guidelines are followed.
  • Inspecting tank components such as thermometer gauges, pressure valves, rupture discs, and remote control lines to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Preparing tanks appropriately before they are returned for use in operations.
  • Ensuring tanks are leak-free and that steam coils remain undamaged.
  • Accurately recording parts replaced on tanks and parts taken from inventory.
  • Removing hazardous labels and ensuring the tank exterior is clean and compliant with transportation regulations.
  • Performing minor repairs such as cladding patches, walkway straightening, and frame repairs while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Assisting supervisors and supporting other depot activities when required.
