Responsibilities
As Farm Manager and second-in-command (2IC) to the General Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence and production success. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day hydroponic crop and production activities.
- Maximizing soft fruit yield through effective crop monitoring and performance management.
- Leading, motivating, and supervising a large seasonal workforce.
- Planning workforce requirements based on crop cycles and production needs.
- Ensuring quality assurance, food safety, and compliance with industry standards.
- Promoting health and safety practices and managing farm assets.
- Monitoring crop health, pest, and disease control measures.
- Collaborating with the Irrigation Manager, crop supervisors, and team leaders.
- Reporting crop performance and operational outcomes to the General Manager.
- Supporting strategic planning and operational execution.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial horticulture.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of soft fruit, covered cropping, or hydroponic systems.
- Strong understanding of crop health, pest, and disease management.
- Experience managing large and diverse seasonal teams.
- Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and production-driven environment.
