Responsibilities

As Farm Manager and second-in-command (2IC) to the General Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence and production success. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day hydroponic crop and production activities.
  • Maximizing soft fruit yield through effective crop monitoring and performance management.
  • Leading, motivating, and supervising a large seasonal workforce.
  • Planning workforce requirements based on crop cycles and production needs.
  • Ensuring quality assurance, food safety, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Promoting health and safety practices and managing farm assets.
  • Monitoring crop health, pest, and disease control measures.
  • Collaborating with the Irrigation Manager, crop supervisors, and team leaders.
  • Reporting crop performance and operational outcomes to the General Manager.
  • Supporting strategic planning and operational execution.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial horticulture.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of soft fruit, covered cropping, or hydroponic systems.
  • Strong understanding of crop health, pest, and disease management.
  • Experience managing large and diverse seasonal teams.
  • Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and production-driven environment.
