We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Welder to support plant and site operations for a leading gold mining company. This role is critical to ensuring the safe fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment used in mining operations. Job Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication activities using ARC, MIG, TIG, and gas welding techniques.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair metal structures, frames, pipes, chutes, guards, and related plant equipment.
- Accurately interpret fabrication drawings, engineering schematics, and technical specifications.
- Carry out cutting, grinding, bending, fitting, and finishing of metal components.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and participate in shutdown and planned maintenance activities.
- Maintain welding tools, machinery, and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and PPE requirements.
- Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to support uninterrupted operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Welding & Fabrication Certificate Part II, City and Guilds apprenticeship certificate, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Valid Welding and Fabrication Technician Competency Certificate issued by the Minerals Commission.
- Minimum of five (5) years post-apprenticeship experience in pipe fabrication and fitting within a mining or extractive metallurgy environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with respect for diverse values and perspectives.
