Key Responsibilities
- Operating school buses on assigned routes and schedules safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining student discipline and ensuring adherence to safety rules.
- Performing daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and reporting any mechanical issues.
- Keeping the bus clean and sanitary, both inside and outside.
- Assisting students and staff with boarding, securing mobility aids, and ensuring safe unloading.
- Verifying student bus passes and following district transportation procedures.
- Providing in-district mail delivery as required.
- Demonstrating routes and procedures to new drivers.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or designate.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Valid Class 2 BC Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Successful completion of internal training requirements.
- Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and related regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid Basic or Emergency First Aid Certificate (an asset).
