Responsibilities
- Oversee daily care, feeding schedules, and water management for cattle and sheep
- Monitor livestock health and promptly report or treat illnesses and injuries
- Assist with calving, lambing, vaccinations, dosing, dipping, and weaning
- Implement and manage grazing rotation plans and camps
- Maintain accurate livestock counts and farm records
Operations & Maintenance
- Ensure all farm infrastructure is functional, including fences, gates, kraals, boreholes, and pipelines
- Perform basic repairs or coordinate maintenance when required
- Supervise and guide farm workers during daily tasks
- Maintain farm vehicles, tractors, pumps, and other equipment
Security Management
- Monitor farm perimeter, livestock camps, and entry points
- Respond swiftly to theft risks or suspicious activity
- Liaise with local police when necessary
- Implement preventative security measures to reduce losses and improve safety
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, train, and supervise farm workers effectively
- Maintain discipline and ensure work is completed to required standards
- Communicate fairly and respectfully with all staff
- Manage conflict and resolve issues calmly and professionally
Requirements
- 1–3 years’ hands-on experience in cattle and sheep farming
- Proven experience managing farm workers
- Agricultural Diploma or Degree (advantageous)
- Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on farm machinery
- Valid driver’s licence (Code 8 or higher)
- Computer literacy
- Trustworthy, reliable, and sober habits
- Sesotho-speaking ability is a strong advantage
