Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations proficiently in at least one assigned area: Tank Weld, Clamp Weld, Top Cover Weld, or Small Parts
- Receive and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors
- Select appropriate welding rods, wire, and machine settings for each job
- Perform all-position welding on carbon steel and stainless steel components used in transformer construction
- Read and interpret engineering instructions, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications
- Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, templates, and rules to ensure accuracy
- Perform MIG, TIG, SMAW, submerged-arc welding, brazing, and oxy-acetylene cutting as required
- Clean welds and maintain quality standards
- Inspect welding processes and materials for compliance with design and inspection criteria
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform minor equipment maintenance
- Assist with training and orientation of new employees when required
- Adhere to all safety policies and actively support zero-harm safety initiatives
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proven ability to perform industrial welding operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
- Physical ability to work at ground level and at heights of 6 feet or more
- Willingness to work in environments with exposure to heat, smoke, and fumes
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to follow safety policies and company procedures
Skills
- MIG, TIG, SMAW, and submerged-arc welding
- Oxy-fuel cutting and brazing techniques
- Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, copper, and castings
- Operation of welding equipment, cranes, positioners, grinders, and fixtures
- Knowledge of welding materials, fillers, fluxes, and anti-spatter products
- Strong hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
